HISTORY OF MENN LAW
MENN LAW FIRM, LTD.: A history of business
Menn Law traces its legal roots to 1926 when two young trial lawyers, Homer H. Benton and Alfred C. Bosser, formed a partnership. At the time, their new idea was to create a pre-eminent law firm with two major practice areas: litigation and business/estate planning. Each area would be handled by attorneys who concentrated their practices in those fields, in order to provide their clients with the best service.
For 40 years, Benton & Bosser's offices were located in downtown Appleton at 117 North Appleton Street, near its intersection with College Avenue. During that time, the firm included such notable attorneys as: Andrew W. Parnell (a future Outagamie County judge); Edgar E. Becker; David L. Fulton; Arthur P. Remley; John B. Menn; Franklin L. Nehs; and Peter S. Nelson.
When Benton and Bosser passed on in the mid 1960s, the law firm became known as Fulton, Menn & Nehs, and moved to larger offices at 222 North Oneida Street in downtown Appleton. John B. Menn headed the litigation team, and Franklin L. Nehs headed the business/estate planning team. During the 40 years at this location, the firm continued to grow, and included the following notable attorneys: John R. Teetaert; Philip F. Schlichting; Glenn L. Sharratt; Robert D. Bauman; Jonathan M. Menn; Guy Dutcher (a future Waushara County judge); and Nancy J. Krueger (a future Outagamie County judge, and the first female judge in the county’s history).
In 2004, the firm became known as Menn Law Firm, Ltd., and has grown to be one of the largest local law firms in northeastern Wisconsin. True to its roots, the law firm maintains a strong litigation section and a strong business and estate planning section. In recent years, the firm added practice areas of family law and alternative dispute resolution with Joseph J. Beisenstein recognized as one of the top mediators in Wisconsin.
In 2010 we acquired the practice of long time Seymour attorney Perry D. Pierre. Our Seymour office allows us to expand our service area. We invite you to visit us and find out how Menn Law can provide trusted legal advice to your family and business.
